Health insurance rates
are increased for all workers due to the 300% higher medical and benefit cost for the
substance abuser.

and an increased use of health insurance.
The
cost to replace an "hourly" drug abuser is about $7,000. For a mid-level
employee, the cost can be $10,000. The cost to replace a senior executive can exceed
$40,000.
Based
on the Bureau Of Labor Statistics Studies of 1,355 job-related deaths, 214 tested for
illicit drugs or alcohol use. Alcohol and cocaine were the most commonly
detected substances.
Statistics
show that one out of eight workers who die on the job have recently consumed illicit drugs
or alcohol.
The
BLS also notes that 26% of all the incidents with positive toxicology reports were
managers. Out of the 11 managers tested, 8 tested positive for alcohol, 2 tested positive
for cocaine and one for amphetamines.
Substance
abuse in todays work place is a problem that has to be addressed from the ground up.
Not only are the common workers involved in substance abuse, but the people who
manage them as well. This provides protection and security for substance abuse and
distribution within.
