Overview
OVERVIEW OF OUR PROGRAM
FOR BUSINESSES
The intent of our program is to provide employers with a
proactive tool to minimize the potential of dangerous contraband on company property and
substance abuse in the workplace. K.I.D.S. realizes that no single program is the panacea to this complex real
issue which jeopardizes the safety, welfare and productivity of the entire staff. K.I.D.S. has a highly qualified management
staff with over fifty (50) years of combined experience. The owners and management
staff of our organization were carefully selected with the purpose of providing our
clientele with the best possible service nationwide.
K.I.D.S. will provide the initial
presentations to union representatives and management at no charge to the company. In some
instances, this also applies to the initial demonstration for employees. These thorough
and positive presentations are essential to communicate and establish the intent and
procedures of this program. The inspections are performed on an unannounced basis to
protect the integrity of the program. However, K.I.D.S. realizes that some unavoidable circumstances may arise and conflict with
the unexpected arrival of a canine team. Therefore, a company representative can select
days that are appropriate to visit while considering times and shifts. Inspections are
under the auspices of each site administrator. K.I.D.S. excludes the use of their canines to "sniff" individuals under
any circumstance(s). K.I.D.S. also
refrains discriminating against a single locker, vehicle, etc...
With our highly trained personnel and canines, your company will
find our standard of quality of to be unprecedented nationwide. K.I.D.S. consultants have an extensive
background enabling us to provide education on topics such as drug awareness, substance
abuse, gangs and prevention. This complements the overall objective for everyone, while
allowing companies to take a proactive role towards assuring a safe and productive working
environment .
| OUR
CANINES ARE TRAINED TO DETECT THE FOLLOWING ODORS: |
| ILLICIT
DRUGS - (Marijuana, Heroin, Cocaine, Meth., & Opium) |
| DRINKING
ALCOHOL - (Beer, Whiskey, Wine) |
| GUNPOWDER -
(Fireworks, Ammunition, Recently Fired and/or Loaded Weapons) |
| RESIDUAL
ODOR - (Any of the above that was previously present) |
| OUR K-9s
ARE NOT TRAINED TO DETECT MEDICATIONS
|
| ALL
OF OUR CANINES GIVE PASSIVE INDICATIONS (SIT ON ODOR) |
Once the handler has confirmed the canine's indication, the owner
will be summoned to the area of indication. First our handler will confirm the person
present is the owner. Then our handler will proceed with a brief but decisive speech that
reiterates what the canine can detect and inquire whether the owner can think of any
reason why the canine has indicated. After their response, the handler will ask permission
to inspect the item. After the owner gives permission and physically opens the item, the
handler will conduct an inspection. If the owner refuses, the handler will refer the
incident to the company official for follow through under their policies and
procedures. If there is any contraband or item prohibited under company policy, the
handler will collect and turn it over to the company official with the appropriate
documentation. All confirmed canine indications are documented on our Incident Outline
Maintenance Reports (IOMR) with a copy provided and retained by the company official at
the conclusion of each visit.
All of our canine teams are certified reliable as a team. If for
some reason we change a canine and handler team, we will re-certify the new team prior to
servicing your company. This major change is critical to the company in the event there is
a question of reliability involving the new team. Furthermore, this ensures the company
will obtain a trained and certified service team with each and every visit. K.I.D.S. has a tracking method for such
transactions. Upon request, all of our clients will be provided copies of
qualifying certifications of each team servicing their company.
To authenticate the certified team, the company simply matches the canine and handler on
the invoice with the company's copy of reliable certifications.
